On Wednesday, 26th April 96 boys from Years 7 and 8 sat a 1 hour paper for the UK Junior Mathematical Challenge 2023.  A fantastic 63 certificates were attained this year!

The paper consisted of 25 multiple choice style questions reflecting a style that pervades all mathematics by challenging students to think clearly about simple, yet unfamiliar problems. The first fifteen questions scored 5 marks each and the last ten were worth 6 marks each, totaling 135.  

Special mention needs to go to Oliver Nozay, Nathan Rimes and Daniel Savage, who
qualified for the follow-on round, the European Kangaroo competition, scoring 94+.  And an extra special mention needs to go to Zibo Guo, scoring 117.   This means he has the rare distinction of qualifying for the Olympiad, JMO, follow on round.  These follow on rounds take place on 14th June 2023.
