Another set of record results, as Forest students’ attainment climbs in
Summer 2024
The results the students have achieved deserve the highest accolade. Some of the
highlights this year based on provisional data show our students beat last year’s
success at the highest grade point by an impressive 10%. This stands out against
the national picture this year, with the pass rate across England falling to 67.6%
grades at 4/C and above.
Forest students celebrating outstanding results include; Nathan with nine grade 9s,
and an 8, Aditya with seven grade 9s, Mohamed with six grade 8s and four grade 9s.
Special mention goes to Sam, who exceeded the grade boundary for a grade 9 in
French among a set of exceptional results, and Arthur and Charlie who both
exceeded the grade boundary for a grade 9 in maths by a margin.
It is another year where our computer science students have excelled, with results
that indicate performance in the top 25% of schools nationally. Our science results
see targets exceeded, as students excel at grades 9-7, with over 80% securing the
highest grades in biology. Our Spanish and French students have succeeded at new
levels, and we are particularly proud of those students securing the grade 8s and 9s
in French and Spanish. This has impacted our success with the EBacc Average
Point Score, one of the government’s performance indicators. Our continued
success in the arts subjects show student progress to be well above national
average, and our improved progress in geography show students exceeding national
average with more students again securing more than a strong pass in this subject.
This cohort saw exceptional individual performances in Cantonese, Arabic, Russian
and Urdu to name a few.
Shirley Austin, Headteacher at The Forest, said: “We were delighted last week with
the A level and BTEc results, and the year 11 boys have triumphed too. They were
not untouched by the impact of Covid, with significant time out of their Key Stage 3
education, as schools went into lockdown. Our students worked to make up the
difference and make that progress happen. They have lived up to our ‘Aspire to
Become Elite’ ethos, as new records in subjects have been set by this cohort. These
results stand them in good stead for their next steps here with us in September. It will
be an historic start to the academic year at Forest. Congratulations to all our Forest
family; staff, students and their families.”
