The Forest School's rugby programme is set to receive a significant boost thanks to a generous grant of £1500 from Reading Rugby Foundation (RRF). Mr. Spindler, a Trustee of RRF, presented the award, which will be used to purchase much-needed rugby equipment for the school.

Ms. Austin expressed her deep gratitude and excitement upon receiving the grant. "We are deeply humbled and delighted by this contribution from the Reading Rugby Foundation," she said. "This grant will have a hugely positive impact on our ability to continue to achieve our mission of ‘Aspire to become Elite’ for the girls and boys in our rugby programme. This influx of funds will support The Forest’s future young people to develop in the game during school life and beyond. It is great to be such a proactive partner for the future."

The funding will enable The Forest School to enhance its rugby programme, providing students with better resources to learn and develop their skills. This will not only benefit current students but also inspire future generations to take up the sport.

Mr. Quartermaine, Head of Physical Education, echoed Ms. Austin's sentiments, emphasizing the importance of the grant in making the programme more inclusive and effective. "We are honoured by the support of Reading Rugby Foundation, which will enable our curriculum and after-school programme to be even more inclusive and differentiated in developing student’s confidence, skills and passion for the game," he stated.

The Forest School hopes that this enhanced programme will inspire students to pursue rugby beyond their school years. Mr. Quartermaine added, "It is hoped that students will be enthused to join Reading Rugby Football Club or their local community club to fulfil competitive games and lead a healthy, active lifestyle."

This partnership between The Forest School and Reading RFC and also RAMS RFC  highlights the importance of community involvement in fostering youth sports and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle among young people. The grant represents a valuable investment in the future of rugby at The Forest School, empowering students to reach their full potential on and off the field.
